My dear liberal friends know how hard I try to limit their exposure to the Leggy Babe who gives no quarter. Indeed, she’s hard for Lefties to take: nearly half as nasty as Maureen Dowd and only four times more intelligent.
But, alas, from her latest comes this line:
On one hand, Obama pals around with terrorists. On the other hand, Hillary pals around with James Carville. Advantage: Obama.
You cannot possibly lose me as a reader if you draw the chalk outline around James Carville like that. I’ve long believed that if you want to understand the Clintons you look at Carville. If you want to understand what American liberalism has become you look at Carville. He is the Rosetta Stone that decodes what the Clintons did to Democrats and what the Democrats have done to themselves.
Carville is the living self-abasement of Democrats.
Now, back to the Leggy Babe:
Asked why he would be friends with the likes of Weatherman Bill Ayers, Obama said: “The notion that … me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn’t make much sense.”
That’s a slick answer – even “Clintonian”! – but the problem is, Ayers and his Weatherman wife, Bernardine Dohrn, won’t stop boasting about their days as Weathermen.
It’s not simply that they haven’t repented. To the contrary, those were their glory days! And Ayers isn’t just someone who lives in the neighborhood: He and Dohrn were there at the inception of Obama’s political career, hosting a fundraiser for Obama at their home back in 1995.
I’ve been truly negligent about this Ayers matter, especially since some Lefty fool with influence up at the local SUNY outlet had Ayers in for a presentation a few months back. So it’s been right here in the backyard, calling out to me.
And I let you all down.
More from the LB about Ayer’s wife, Bernardine Dohrn, presumably also “friendly” with Obama:
At one rally, Dohrn famously praised the Manson family for murdering Sharon Tate and others, shouting: “Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them. They even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!”
Bill Ayers famously wrote that far from being repentant for his bombing campaign, he wished that he could have done more. (What great misfortune it was that he published those words in an Op-Ed piece appearing in The New York Times on September 11. 2001. Otherwise they might just have been forgotten.) That causes me to wonder whether Dohrn has ever expressed a bit of regret for her comment on the Manson murders. For instance, if she and Bill do still “dig” the bombings, does she still “dig” the murder of that “pig” Sharon Tate?
