Now this is a real estate deal

The New York Times reports today that MetLife, the insurance company, is putting the Stuyvesant Town & Peter Cooper Village apartment complex on the market. It’s an 80-acre site in Manhattan that runs along the east side of First Avenue between 14th and 23rd Streets. It’s made up of 110 buildings with 11,000 units housing 25,000 residents. The asking price: $5 billion. It would be the biggest American real estate deal, as the Times puts it, in modern times.
