Krauthammer takes a whack at the Obama-Holder assault on meaning, their attempt, at bottom, to destroy the logical law of identity itself:
Apart from the fact that any such trial will be a security nightmare and a terror threat to New York — what better propaganda-by-deed than blowing up the entire courtroom, making KSM a martyr and making the judge, jury, and spectators into fresh victims? — it will endanger U.S. security. Civilian courts with broad rights of cross-examination and discovery give terrorists access to crucial information about intelligence sources and methods.
That’s precisely what happened during the civilian New York trial of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers. The prosecution was forced to turn over to the defense a list of 200 unindicted co-conspirators, including the name Osama bin Laden. “Within ten days, a copy of that list reached bin Laden in Khartoum,†wrote former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, the presiding judge at that trial, “letting him know that his connection to that case had been discovered.â€
Oh, that’s just a slice of it, but it begins to approach the core of the Obama-Holder unreality. I will say it again: Only fifth columnists could do this sort of thing. This is itself an act of asymmetrical warfare leveled against the United States by the very people at the head of government. It is not just stupidity. To understand it you must look it in the eye: It is intentional.
During the American Revolution, I’d wager, there was no Tory collaborator or spy for the British Crown or traitor in the Continental ranks who leveraged this degree of treachery. In more modern terms, the wildest eye of the most demented KGB controller wouldn’t have expected something like this from FDR’s Vice President prior to Truman, the Soviet sympathizer, Henry Wallace, if he had become President.
Readers here might shrug at such “wild talk,” but I’ve been watching American politics for decades, and I’ve never seen anything even remotely close to what is unfolding now.
